  • The Department of Mechanical System and Design Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology is in the field of mechanical engineering and makes up the foundation of academic theory, application technology, and practical work which compose the backbone of Korean industries such as electronics, telecommunications, automotives, shipbuilding, robotics, heavy industry, and aerospace.
  • Mechanical engineering makes up the foundation of all industries and deals with theory, technology, and practical learning in the design and manufacturing of all products ranging from daily life products such as consumer electronics, mobile communication devices, and computers, to actual products such as automobiles, ships, aircraft, heavy equipment, and robots.
  • System engineering is the latest trend that integrates complex technologies in the field of manufacturing and design.
  • The Department of Mechanical System and Design Engineering ranges from the basic theories of mechanical engineering design to academic knowledge in various fields of design, electronics, materials science, manufacturing engineering, robotics, and computer science in unison based on system engineering.
  • The Department of Mechanical System and Design Engineering trains excellent engineers and researchers with comprehensive capabilities.
  • Mechanical engineering emerges as a key technology to implementing nano-technology, IT technology and bio-technology, and its demand is exponentially increasing. In recent years, it has also become the core technology in automotives, display, telecommunications technology, and the employment of design and manufacturing engineers of these related fields is very active. Current employment of graduates from the Department of Mechanical System and Design Engineering is at the nation's highest levels, especially employment in large companies which overwhelms other departments.
  • Currently, 33 full-time faculty members with their areas of expertise and 4 adjunct faculty members educate 50 graduate and 760 undergraduate students.
